Big Day at the Plate for Maher Not Enough for Sea Turtles
Runs were plentiful at Leatherback Park.

The New York Nightmare outlasted Derek Maher and the Daytona Beach Sea Turtles, 11-9. Maher was impressive in the loss. The Daytona Beach left fielder went 3-5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 5. Brian Prince, 3-2, earned the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 1.2 innings.

New York used the clutch hitting of Ben Callahan to capture the win. The left fielder drilled a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to give the Nightmare the lead, 11-9. For the game, Callahan had 1 single and 1 double in 5 at-bats.

"Winning is hard sometimes," said Nightmare manager Joey Bishop. "This one was nice to get."

The last-place Sea Turtles dropped to 17-27.
