Chicago 8-2 Losers to Heathens
|
The Halifax Heathens got a stellar effort from pitcher Andy Swift, helping Halifax score a win over the visiting Chicago Gangsters, 8-2. Swift, the winner, moves to 1-0. He threw 5 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 5 walks. The save was credited to Angel Morales, his 1st.
Nate Dubiel had a big 2-run double for the Heathens in the bottom of the third inning. With Halifax trailing 2-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a curveball from Jesus Fernandez and swatted a double to left. It was his 2nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Heathens ahead, 3-2.
"Slowly but surely, the wins are piling up," said Dubiel.
The third-place Gangsters have lost 5 straight games.
