Slumping Giants Lose Again, 8-5
|
The Carolina Reapers powered past the Detroit Giants, 8-5, at Ballpark of Detroit. Moises Reyes provided some of the pop. Deacon was 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Steve Cates got the win, improving to 2-4. He worked 6 innings, giving up 1 run on 4 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 2. The losses continue to mount for Detroit, which has now dropped 7 in a row.
Helping the Carolina cause was Mike Green. In the top of the second, the two-time All-Star had a run-scoring hit-by-pitch to make the score 2-0, Reapers.
"Everyone's kind of edgy right now," said losing manager Blake Barber, "but nothing a couple of wins wouldn't cure."
