The Halifax Heathens, behind a great outing from Branden Covington, who is tied for 8th in the AC with a 9.5 K/9 rate, defeated the Tampa Bay Captains, 3-0, at Ahoy Park. Jeff Buck, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 38th save. Halifax goes to 75-48. The win puts them 9½ games up in their division.

Julio Herrera, who led the AC in batting average with .321 last year, had a direct impact on the outcome. Herrera contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put Halifax up, 2-0.

Halifax manager David Morris called it "a pretty good win."
