Thanks in large part to left fielder Nelson Ziersch, the Charleston Sea Dogs beat the Boston Whistlers, 9-4. Ziersch was 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk. He scored 4 runs. Omar Cons earned the win, while four-time All-Star Antonio Higuera took the loss for Boston. The Sea Dogs bumped their record to 26-14 with this latest triumph.

Charleston relied on the bat of Ernesto Ramirez to get the win. The designated hitter produced a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Sea Dogs ahead, 2-0. For the game, Ramirez had 1 double and 1 home run in 2 at-bats.
