Halifax Heathens starter Jack Ivory turned in an exceptional performance against the Chicago Gangsters at Estadio Azteca, resulting in a Halifax win, 4-1. The save was credited to Jeff Buck, his 14th. The second-place Heathens hiked their record to 23-14.

Leo Orozco had a big 2-run home run for the Heathens in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Halifax leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from Lorenzo Sanchez, who is tied for 7th in the AC in strikeouts with 52, and punished it. The result was his 9th home run of the season, which put the Heathens on top, 3-0.

"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Halifax skipper David Morris.
