Invaders Beaten By Nightmare, 7-4
|
The New York Nightmare beat the Oakland Invaders, 7-4, at Nightmare Stadium. Ben Callahan, in particular, was impressive. He went 2-4 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Pat Hovhannisian, the winner, goes to 3-4. He allowed 3 runs on 6 hits, with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts over 5.1 innings. With the win, New York pushed its record to 18-18.
Frank Hoffman had a big 2-run home run for the Nightmare in the bottom of the fourth inning. With New York trailing 3-2 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a cutter from Evan Pullman, who finished 3rd in the NC in ERA with 2.98 in 2023, and punished it. The result was his 4th home run of the season, which put the Nightmare on top, 4-3.
"It's always great to put the barrel on the ball and contribute," said Callahan.
