Though he had a terrific game, Ruben Cabriales could not prevent his team, the Detroit Giants, from absorbing a loss. Daytona Beach won the game, 4-3. Cabriales was 4 for 4 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The win belonged to Brian Hennick in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Tony Wooten took the loss for Detroit. Daytona Beach is now 14-22, while Detroit is 12-24.

Philip Couillard drove in one run for Daytona Beach. With one out and the game tied in the bottom of the eighth inning, Couillard, who leads the NC in triples with 3, had a clutch at-bat. Facing Detroit hurler Tony Wooten, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Sea Turtles a 4-3 lead.

Couillard said his team "played with focus."
