Caribou Earn 4-3 Win Versus Eagles
|
Indianapolis got a terrific performance from pitcher John Hennig, but it wasn't enough to beat the Vancouver Caribou. Vancouver won the Mounties Field contest, 4-3. Hennig threw 8.0 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. Mike Strasser claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 2.1 innings. His record stands at 1-2. The Caribou are now 15-21.
The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Vancouver trailing 3-2, Cesar Ornelas hit a fastball from James Gibson to center for a 2-run single. Just like that, the Caribou had a walk-off win.
"You need to show up when your number's called," said Ornelas.
