Sea Turtles Come Up Short at Detroit, 2-1
|
The Detroit Giants picked up a win at Ballpark of Detroit, dropping the Daytona Beach Sea Turtles, 2-1. Dave Shevlin, who is tied for 3rd in the AC in wins with 4, was the difference-maker. Shevlin yielded 1 run over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 0, and struck out 5. His record improves to 4-1. The save went to Lee Maher, number 6 for him.
Had Keith Brosch not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Brosch hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Giants.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Brosch said after the game.
The last-place Sea Turtles have dropped 4 straight games.
