Rowlands Silences Vancouver Bats
In a low-scoring affair between the Boston Whistlers and the Vancouver Caribou, pitcher Matthew Rowlands was the difference between victory and defeat. The Boston left-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 1-0 Whistlers win. Blake Bryant, who finished 2nd in the AC in saves with 37 last year, earned the save for Boston. Boston is now 21-13, Vancouver 14-20.

Rowlands made it look easy. He scattered 2 hits over 7.1 innings, while racking up 9 strikeouts. The left-hander upped his season record to 3-0.

"Matthew was the difference maker. He was emotionally under control, had good stuff and makeup," said Boston manager Mike Plocher.
