Aztecs Stay Hot with Extra-Inning Win
|
Mexico City Aztecs starter John Manship pitched a strong game against the Syracuse Scorpions at Scorpion Stadium, leading the Aztecs to victory, 9-6. Paul Ganley, 4-0, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. The Scorpions, at 7-25, have stumbled out of the gate.
Mexico City needed the clutch hitting of Danny Velasquez to seal the deal. The shortstop swatted a 3-run home run in the top of the 13th inning to put the Aztecs on top, 9-6. For the game, Velasquez had 1 home run and 1 single in 6 at-bats.
"We'll keep playing hard and let the chips fall where they may," said Mexico City manager Pete Clark.
