Eagles Get One-Run Win at New York
|
Riding the 3-hit performance of the two-time All-Star Jim Anderson, the Indianapolis Eagles stopped the New York Nightmare, 3-2. Tim Sindt, the winner, is now 1-4. He struck out 3 and walked 5 over 6 innings, while allowing 2 runs on 7 hits. Indianapolis is now 18-11.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Eagles had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the top of the fifth, when third baseman Victor Mendez hit a run-scoring single. The single came off John Dollar and made the score 3-2, Eagles. Mendez was 1 for 4.
Indianapolis manager Pete DuBay called it "a pretty good win."
