Invaders Top Stars to Even Record
|
In a tight contest at Howard Terminal, the Oakland Invaders edged the Hollywood Stars by the score of 4-3. Oakland catcher Mike Sligar, who blasted 2 home runs, was a key contributor. Dennis Allen picked up the win with 6.2 innings of work. He allowed 3 runs on 8 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 7. On the season, he is now 2-2. The win gives Oakland a record of 13-13.
Sligar had an important at-bat with the bases empty in the bottom of the sixth, when he hit a solo home run. The Invaders went on to win.
"We ground out the win," said Sligar. "That's all that matters."
