Desperados Lose to Gladiators, 6-2
The Phoenix Gladiators topped the Austin Desperados, 6-2, in American Conference action at Gladiators Ballpark. The standout performance belonged to Phoenix pitcher and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, native Mike Walsh. Ricardo Grados closed the game out for Phoenix, earning his 1st save. The Gladiators, with only their 7th win in 25 games, could be the worst team in the league.

The Gladiators got an important contribution from designated hitter Paul McCarthy, who in the bottom of the fourth hit a 1-1 fastball to right-center for a run-scoring triple. It was his 2nd triple of the season and put the Gladiators ahead, 4-2.

"We put our best foot forward tonight," said a smiling Walsh.
