Whistlers Prevail, 3-2, Over Tampa Bay
|
The Boston Whistlers earned a close win over the Tampa Bay Captains, thanks in part to Mario Ruiz. The Boston right-hander played a key role in the 3-2 victory. In 6.1 innings, Ruiz surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 1. He allowed 2 runs. The Captains fall to 11-14 and continue their uneven start to the 2024 season.
Jeff Beeson, who is a two-time All-Star, had a direct impact on the outcome. Beeson contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the third inning to put Boston up, 2-1.
In comments to the Boston Daily, Ruiz insisted that he's not as disinterested as it often appears. "Haters will hate," he added.
