Cusack Leads Fire to Win
The San Francisco Fire stopped the San Diego Fleet, 9-7, at San Francisco Grounds. The Fire got a big game from Noel Cusack, who was 4-5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 3 and driving in 2. Keith Hawes earned the save for San Francisco, his 3rd. The Fire have stumbled out of the gate, getting only their 8th win in 24 games.

Had Jonathan Kober not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Kober hit a 2-run single. That made the score 9-7, in favor of the Fire.

"It's nice to deliver when your team's counting on you," said Cusack.
