Van Diest Lifts Trash Pandas to 8-1 Triumph
The Toronto Trash Pandas defeated the Maine Pines, 8-1. Left Fielder D.J. Van Diest deserved a large share of the credit. Van Diest was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3 for the Trash Pandas. Maine now has a record of 15-8.

John Gadsden had a big run-scoring double for the Trash Pandas in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Toronto leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a cutter from Matt Graham, who finished 5th in the NC in strikeouts with 210 in 2022, and swatted a double to center. It was his 4th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Trash Pandas ahead, 2-0.

"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Toronto manager Walt DeRosier.
