The Phoenix Gladiators picked up a win at Gladiators Ballpark, topping the Austin Desperados, 6-4. On the mound for Phoenix was left-hander Bob Rehm. He played a principal role in the triumph. The win was credited to Josh Shropshire in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Bill Reno took the loss. Picking up his 3rd save was 22-year old right-handed pitcher Manny Brant.

With two out in the bottom of the seventh, Jon Wagner had a game-changing hit. The Gladiators center fielder slammed a run-scoring single off Bill Reno, making the score 4-2, Phoenix.

Phoenix manager Brett Bartlett called it "a good, solid win."

Despite the win, Phoenix, now 6-16, is off to a terrible start.
