The Carolina Reapers knocked off the Austin Desperados, 9-3, in National Conference action at Dell Diamond. Carolina pitcher and Santa Fe, New Mexico, native Steve Cates had an outstanding performance. With the win, Carolina improves its record to 10-11.

In the top of the sixth, Carolina shortstop Jose Lazaro had a run-producing at-bat. Facing Austin hurler Luke Scrimger, Lazaro drew a walk, driving in 1 run. That made the score 5-3, Carolina. For the day, Lazaro drew 1 walk.

"My job is to go out and play as hard as I can for the Reapers," said Lazaro.
