Eagles Shut Out Giants, 4-0
|
Indianapolis pitcher Mike Canales did his part in helping his team defeat the Detroit Giants, 4-0. The opposition could never get too much going against the left-hander. Canales, now 2-1, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 8, walking 1, and allowing no runs. James Gibson recorded the save for Indianapolis, his 1st of the season.
Mike Dallis, who is tied for 9th in the NC in bases on balls with 9, chipped in a solo home run for Indianapolis in the bottom of the seventh. For the game, the shortstop had 2 hits in 3 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 1 run batted in.
Said losing manager Sean O'Leary: "The at-bats, obviously, needed to be better."
The Giants fall to 8-11 and continue their uneven start to the 2024 season.
