Matt Simpson, the 4th overall pick in the 2021 draft, had a strong outing for the Syracuse Scorpions against the Cincinnati Royals at Scorpion Stadium. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 5-3 win. The Scorpions raised their record to 2-0.

Chris Guardiola had a big 2-run home run for the Scorpions in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Syracuse leading 3-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from 26-year old right-handed pitcher Dave Harvey and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Scorpions on top, 5-0.

"Matt did a nice job," said Scorpions manager Josh Gifford.
