Reapers Beaten By Pines, 5-1
|
Matt Graham, who finished 3rd in the NC in wins with 15 last year, never let the Reapers get in a groove. The left-hander used his bread and butter, his cutter, to pitch the Pines to a win, 5-1. For the Reapers, the loss makes them 6-12.
The Reapers had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Pines going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 26-year old center fielder Jimmy Frew came to the plate. Frew hit a run-scoring double on a first pitch changeup from Carolina hurler Cory Gregerson. It was Frew's 5th double of the year.
"Matt did a good job keeping the game under control," said Maine manager Chris Ware.
