The Vancouver Mounties weathered a fine game by Phoenix third baseman Ton Ariëns to upend the Gladiators, 6-5, at Gladiators Ballpark. Ariëns belted 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Adam Ryan, who finished 3rd in the NC in ERA with 2.65 in 2019, was the winner in relief. His record is now 2-0. The losing pitcher was Manny Brant. Chris Brown picked up his 4th save of the season.

Josh Elder came through with a big-time hit for Vancouver. The catcher smacked a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 6-5. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Phoenix manager . "The effort was great."

Now 6-10, the Gladiators have not played well this season.
