Good production from right fielder Chris Epstein helped the Fountain Hills 23ers topple the Syracuse Scorpions, 12-1. Epstein went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2 for the 23ers. The win puts Fountain Hills at 10-6.

Corey Pope had a big 2-run home run for the 23ers in the top of the first inning. With Fountain Hills leading 3-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from 24-year old left-handed pitcher Mike Gibson and punished it. The result was his 7th home run of the season, which put the 23ers on top, 5-0.

"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said 23ers manager Efren Nieman, "I like our chances."
