Mexico City Slaps 3-2 Loss on San Diego
The Mexico City Aztecs got a marvelous performance from pitcher Chris Booth. The right-hander kept the San Diego offense from ever getting much traction. The result was an impressive 3-2 Mexico City victory at Gran Estadio Azteca. Paul Ganley, now 1-0, was credited with the win in 1.2 innings of relief. He allowed 2 runs on 2 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 1. Jeff Cox earned his 4th save, after closing out the game.

The Fleet had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Aztecs going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 27-year old first baseman Hunter Long came to the plate. Long hit a bases-clearing double on a full count fastball from San Diego hurler Rodrigo Lemus. It was Long's 5th double of the year.

Long attributed the win to his team's "steely resolve."

Mexico City, now 9-6, has gotten their season off to a good start.
