|
Tampa Bay center fielder Jonathan McCarthy had a good game, even if his team did not. The Captains dropped a 7-3 decision to Chicago at The Hideout. McCarthy was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Elias Tapia earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 3.2 innings. He upped his record to 2-0. Brian Hammond earned the save, his 1st, for the Gangsters.
Matt Budish chipped in a 2-run home run for Chicago in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the third baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 runs batted in.
"We'll take some time to unwind," said Budish, "and then get after it again."
The Captains, now 4-10, continue their inauspicious start.
