The Detroit Giants picked up a win at Ballpark of Detroit, knocking off the Austin Desperados, 5-3. On the mound for Detroit was right-hander Danny Offen. He played a key role in the triumph. Offen, now 1-0, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 7, walking 0, and allowing 3 runs. Austin drops to 1-1.

Chris Lutz had a big run-scoring double for the Giants in the bottom of the second inning. With Detroit leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from 22-year old right-handed pitcher Jason Emary and swatted a double to left. It was his 2nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Giants ahead, 2-0.

"Danny is one tough hombre," said Detroit manager Sean O'Leary.
