Thanks in large part to shortstop Willie Alvarez, the San Francisco Fire beat the Dallas Dragons, 13-5. Alvarez was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. San Francisco starter Tom Tchida was credited with the win after throwing 98 pitches over 5.2 innings. His record now stands at 1-1. Dallas, with the loss, is still a robust 7-2.
