Reapers Lose at Home, 7-4
|
The 7-4 Cincinnati win over Carolina was due largely to Heath Sherlock. The Royals third baseman was 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks. He scored 3 times. Casey Abbott, who went 6 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 6 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 4. His record now stands at 1-1. Cincinnati goes to 7-2 with the win.
Cincinnati used a well-timed hit by Andrew Baltzley to capture the win. The center fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Royals ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Baltzley told the Cincinnati Daily News.
