Sunrays Marty Mitchell Down and Out for Year Sunday, September 8th , 2024 The doctors have spoken and Marty Mitchell of the Ontario Sunrays didn't like what he heard. The 18-year-old starting pitcher is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. Mitchell sustained his season-ending injury during the Montgomery Missions game yesterday at Missions Grove. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while throwing a pitch. Today the Ontario medical staff reported Mitchell had a torn back muscle and would be absent from the lineup for at least 5 months. This year, Mitchell has worked 29.1 innings with 25 strikeouts en route to a 0-4 record and a 5.83 ERA. |
