Pikeville Stops Talton Hit Streak Sunday, May 12th , 2024 Tyler Talton came rolling into today's game against the Pikeville Cavalry with a 20-game hitting string, but he left it on the field at Cavalry Grounds. The 23-year-old Little Rock Golden Gophers center fielder went 0-for-4 against the Cavalry as the Golden Gophers fell, 9-3. "I swung at a couple pitches I probably shouldn't have and I didn't swing at a couple I probably should have," he said, grimacing. "But that's what makes a hit streak so impressive in the first place -- it only takes a couple mistakes to end it all." Thus far this year, Talton has hit .405 with 2 home runs and 27 RBIs. |
