Sears 5-for-7 for Mt. Vernon Friday, May 10th , 2024 It was a sensational day at the plate for Jeff Sears as he led the charge to a nifty 24-9 win over the Fighting Knights. The Mt. Vernon left fielder was pure misery for the Niskayuna pitching staff. He left them shell-shocked with 5 hits in 7 at-bats in an explosive display of hitting. "Sears put the ball into play and he really hit it hard," said Gabe Ludwigsen, manager for the Fighting Knights, after the game. "When you do that, you've got a good chance to do some damage. And that's what happened. I feel like we threw some good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball." Jeff Sears hit a two-run double in the 1st, grounded out in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
