Butler Torches Miners for 5 Hits Wednesday, June 11th , 2025 Even as a kid, Brian Butler said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At Mt. Vernon Grounds, Butler showed how well he learned that lesson. The 21-year-old catcher had 5 hits in 6 at-bats for the Mt. Vernon Cyclones, helping his team knock off the Carson City Miners by a score of 14-2. "They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did." Brian Butler hit a three-run home run off Victor Montoya in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Randy Smith in the 5th, singled in the 6th and struck out in the 8th.
