Lirette 5-for-6 Against Sunrays Thursday, May 1st , 2025 Newport News third baseman Curt Lirette had a day to remember, 5-for-6 against the Ontario Sunrays at Sunrays Field as the Wranglers picked up a win, 15-5. "He was patient up there," Newport News skipper Chris Rice told the press after the game. "I like the way he waited for his pitch and wasn't overly aggressive. Lirette has a tendency to chase bad balls sometimes." Curt Lirette doubled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, grounded out in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and singled in the 8th. This season, Lirette has banged out 23 hits in 68 at-bats for a .338 average with 2 home runs. He is getting on base at a .348 pace and his totals also include 10 RBIs and 13 runs scored.
