Un-four-gettable: Lane Hits for Cycle
Thursday, April 23rd , 2026
Jim Lane did everything he could for the Lake Brantley High School Patriots -- literally.

The 18-year-old third baseman hit a single, a double, a triple and a home run for the Patriots, going for the cycle and helping them get past the Berkeley Prep High School Buccaneers, 9-2, at Lake Brantley High School Baseball Field.

"Yeah, I was some kind of hitter in this game," Lane reflected later. "It was like all I had to do was close my eyes and swing the bat."

In a game headed for the record books, Lane banged out 4 hits in 4 at-bats and totaled 4 RBI and 3 runs scored. Speaking with the press about the feat, he attributed it to "a lot of luck."

"A triple is so hard to hit," he said. "To just decide to get one in a game when you need it for a cycle, it's impossible. Usually something weird has to happen, the ball kicking past an outfielder or somebody falling down. There's a ton of luck in hitting for a cycle."

Jim Lane hit a solo-shot off Vicente Chairez in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a three-run triple in the 6th and walked in the 8th.

For the year, Lane has hit at a .395 clip with 27 RBIs, 12 home runs and 36 runs scored.
