Thursday, March 21st , 2024
This offseason, Mike Graves focused on boosting his stamina with an eye on potentially transitioning to a starting pitcher. Wesleyan High School Wolves facility staff helped Mike Graves build endurance through extended conditioning, long bullpen sessions, and mobility training to prepare for longer appearances.
He also worked on heavily on pacing himself, ensuring he could maintain his velocity and sharpness well beyond the typical one-inning relief appearance. “It's not just physical, there is a significant mental aspect to facing longer outings,” Mike Graves said.
With promising results from bullpens—Mike Graves entered spring training showing the potential to pitch multiple innings without his performance suffering. As the season draws near, he’s ready to contribute as either a high leverage reliever or, if called upon, a potential starter.
