Round 1 Goes the Distance, De La Salle High School Prevails Tuesday, May 16th , 2023 The De La Salle High School Spartans and Taravella High School Trojans held nothing back in an entertaining Round 1 that went the distance. In the end, it will be De La Salle High School advancing to the Round 2, after a 3-1 triumph in the final game at Taravella High School Baseball Stadium, to wrap up the series 4-3. The Spartans players celebrated jubilantly in their clubhouse after the game, while the scene was one of dismay on the opposing side for the Trojans. Tony Martinez was named series MVP for De La Salle High School. For the series, Martinez hit .370 with a .469 on-base percentage. He had 3 home runs, drove in 6 RBI and scored 5 runs. The De La Salle High School Spartans will play against the Parkview High School Panthers in the next round. Parkview High School won their series against the Cypress High School Centurions 4 games to 1. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes. |
