Flores Belts Bunch of Base Hits
Tuesday, June 10th , 2025
Tampa third baseman Alejandro Flores added his name to the record books with a 5-hit spree at Ballpark of Fremont, but found his special moment spoiled when the Fremont Ambassadors took a shootout win, 13-10, over the Capitals.
"I would have much preferred getting only a couple of hits and winning the game," he confessed to reporters afterward. "It's hard to go back into the clubhouse and celebrate a 5-hit game when you also lost."
Capitals manager Matt Kaczmarczyk called Flores's game "a once-in-a-lifetime moment."
"It's a shame the guy can't really enjoy it," the skipper said. "It's also a shame what happened with our pitching, but at least that we can try to fix."
Alejandro Flores hit a solo-shot off Shunso Tabata in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, doubled in the 6th, hit a two-run home run off Jim Unknown in the 7th and doubled in the 9th.
Currently Flores has 3 home runs and a .339 batting average.

Miners Pitching Ravaged by Maley
Tuesday, June 10th , 2025
The 5th time is the charm -- at least for Jim Maley.
The first baseman for the Tyler Trolls hit the milestone against the Glace Bay Miners, helping his club to a narrow 8-7 victory. Maley finished with a 5-for-5 line at the plate.
"Maley was a tough out," Glace Bay manager Carlos Acevedo told the press in the postgame interview. "If it weren't for him, I think we had this one."
Jim Maley singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 9th.
In his season totals, Maley has 6 home runs, .373 BA, .454 OBP, 29 RBIs and 23 runs scored. He has played in 51 games.

Gottlieb 5-for-5 Against Long Beach
Monday, June 9th , 2025
Steve Gottlieb exploded for a barrage of base hits at Ballpark of Columbus.
The Columbus right fielder had a field day in his team's 9-2 triumph over the Long Beach Keys, finishing 5-for-5.
"My hitting philosophy is simple," he said. "I focus on just seeing the ball and I try to get a good pitch."
Gottlieb must have focused at least 5 times and apparently got some good pitches, too, leading to one of his best days ever with the bat. Steve Gottlieb doubled in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Jim Unknown in the 5th, doubled in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off Jim Unknown in the 8th.
Thus far this year, Gottlieb is batting .312 with 4 home runs, 9 RBIs and 11 runs scored.
