Encinitas's Valkenburg Snaps Up Player of the Week Monday, April 22nd , 2024 When it came to hitting the baseball, Steve Valkenburg was in a class by himself in the Eastern AA this past week. Nobody did it better. The outstanding right fielder for Encinitas tagged opposing pitchers for a .542 average and was voted the Player of the Week Award. Included in his stats were 13 hits in 24 at-bats, 4 homers, 10 runs scored and 15 RBIs. Thus far this year, Valkenburg is hitting .377 with 7 home runs, 19 RBIs and 17 runs scored. |
