Nashville Southpaw Tosses 4-0 Shutout Monday, May 29th , 2023 Malcolm Slater of the Nashville Lasers was on top of his game. The 28-year-old tantalized the Glendale Muskies with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest, shutting them out, 4-0. "He had the changeup working," Glendale manager Jermaine Allen said in postgame comments. "You knew it was coming and you still grounded out -- and then he threw it even slower." The Nashville hurler had 6 strikeouts, gave up 3 walks and surrendered 3 hits in his complete-game effort. Slater told reporters after the game that "keeping the ball down is the key to being successful in this league." "If you don't do that, they'll make you pay," he said. This season, he has made 9 relief appearances, collecting 2 saves. Slater has worked 32 innings, yielding 33 hits and giving out 10 free passes while striking out 30.
