Marshalls Deal Crawdads 3-1 Loss
|
Fremont picked up a win at Crawdad Park, bumping off the Hickory Crawdads, 3-1. Pitcher Josh Riese was a major reason the Marshalls emerged victorious. In 7 innings, Riese surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. The save went to Kasey Acree, his 21st this season.
Fremont won the game in part because of Omar Perez. The right fielder ripped a solo home run in the top of the first inning to put the Marshalls ahead, 1-0. For the game, Perez had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
"Tough loss," said Hickory manager Ray Sanchez. "But we'll learn from it."
Fremont has now won 3 straight, while the Crawdads have lost 5 in a row.
