The New Rochelle Purple Wave beat the Denver Pilots, 6-5, in part because of designated hitter Jeff Mullinax. He was 2-4 with 2 singles and a walk. He scored 2 runs. New Rochelle pitcher Sam Crider got the win, upping his record to 3-1. Jarred Gangi got the loss. Marcos Rosas was called on to finish, recording his 4th save.

New Rochelle used a timely hit from 22-year old catcher Eduardo Lopez to get the win. The catcher delivered a 2-run triple in the top of the ninth inning to put the Purple Wave on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was huge.

"I just try to go out and give it 100 percent every game," Lopez told a local reporter after the game. "That's my mantra, and like today, it will pay off more often than not."

Denver, at 62-62, has lost 4 straight.
