Though he had a terrific game, Cory Sperber could not prevent his team, the Hickory Crawdads, from absorbing a loss. Quebec won the game, 6-5. Sperber was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Bill Rauch earned save number 22 this season. The win puts Quebec at 66-57 this season.

In the bottom of the 5th, Quebec took the lead on a 2-run single by Dave Poth. At the time, the Aces were trailing 3-2, but Poth's hit with two outs against Hickory pitcher Ricardo Martinez put them in front, 4-3.

In postgame comments to the Quebec Observer, Poth said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
