Cincinnati Gets 4-3 Win Versus Cornwall in 10
|
Cincinnati beat Cornwall at Ballpark of Cincinnati, eking out a 4-3 win. The win was due in large part to left fielder Juan Guerra. He went 3-5 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Ryan Johnson picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 3-1. Kelly Powell, who is tied for 3rd in the W-AA in saves with 22, was tagged with the loss. The Bombardiers saw their record improve to 65-73.
The game was decided with no one out in the bottom of the tenth. With Cincinnati trailing 3-2, Guerra jumped on a cutter from 27-year old right-handed pitcher Kelly Powell and hit a 2-run home run to right-center. With one swing, the Bombardiers had a walk-off win.
"This ballgame left me feeling kind of raw," said Cornwall manager Jon Williams.
