Cavalry Lose to Sonoma, 5-2
|
The Sonoma Scorpions defeated the St. Louis Cavalry, 5-2, in part because of designated hitter Eric Bradstreet. Bradstreet went 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Scorpions. The winner was Dan Toigo, who threw 101 pitches over 5 innings. The right-hander was charged with 2 runs on 4 hits. Mauricio Martinez nailed down his 24th save.
The Scorpions got a big at-bat from first baseman Tom Coon. For the game, Coon went 2 for 4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the third, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run double. His 6th double of the season gave Sonoma a 3-2 lead.
Said losing manager Leo Medina: "Give the Scorpions credit. They played a better game than we did."
The second-place Scorpions lifted their record to 82-57.
