Cincinnati Drops Stockton, 4-1

The Cincinnati Bombardiers downed the Stockton Ragin Cajuns, 4-1, at Ballpark of Stockton. Stellar pitching by Keith Jong had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who is tied for 4th in the W-AA in strikeouts with 155, handcuffed his opponent all game. In 7.2 innings, Jong surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. Salvatore Barajas locked down his 4th save.
Cincinnati used a clutch at-bat from Leo Mendez to capture the win. The first baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Bombardiers ahead, 2-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"I had pretty good command out there," said Jong.
Cincinnati is 64-73 and Stockton, with the loss, 65-72.
