Vail Grounds was the site for Western AA action featuring the Stockton Ragin Cajuns and Vail Tigercats.

The Vail Tigercats besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Stockton first baseman Adam Barker by beating the Ragin Cajuns, 8-5, at Vail Grounds. Barker was 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Robert Hendricks, 2-5, earned the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 2 innings. Rich Sargent picked up the save, his 15th.

Had Lee Muza not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Muza hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Tigercats.

"We maximized our offense today," said Vail skipper Mike Alexander. "That makes everyone's life easier."

At 76-58, the Tigercats have a slim two-game lead in the Western AA Central Division.
