Cortright Rips 2 Home Runs in 5-1 Bulldogs Triumph
|
The timely hitting of Brett Cortright helped the Hamilton Bulldogs down the Vail Tigercats, 5-1. Cortright hit 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice for the Bulldogs. Jesus Garcia got the win, improving to 9-6. He held the Tigercats to 1 run on 4 hits over 9 innings, while striking out 6 and walking 3. The second-place Bulldogs improved to 82-49.
Cortright contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Hamilton in the top of the fourth. With his team trailing 1-0, Cortright took a cutter from Mike Redmond and stroked the home run to left. His 23rd home run of the season allowed the Bulldogs to leap in front, 3-1.
"Every time I go up there, I try and hit a ball hard," said Cortright.
