Milkmen Losers, 8-3, Versus St. Louis
|
The St. Louis Cavalry trumped the Vermont Milkmen, 8-3, at Cavalry Ballpark. St. Louis first baseman Chris Bryan was terrific. He was 1-2 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 3 runs. St. Louis starter Vic Vance was credited with the win after throwing 90 pitches over 5.1 innings. His record now stands at 6-11. The Cavalry raised their record to 52-77.
The Milkmen had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Cavalry going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 25-year old second baseman Tony Hernandez came to the plate. Hernandez hit a bases-clearing double on a 1-2 curveball from Vermont hurler Luke Getts. It was Hernandez's 27th double of the year.
"There's never a lack of effort in our clubhouse. We're willing to do the little things to get the win," Hernandez told the St. Louis Chronicle.
